Do Prophets Exist in Today's World?
Imagine being contacted out of the blue by a stranger who happens to know
things about your life that you didn't even know. How would you feel? What
are the thoughts that would run through your mind? Would you have the
balls of steel to brush it off, or would you want to know more
about how this is possible?
Many years ago, as a young adult, after living on my own for about 9 to 10
months, I received word from my mother that a pastor from church wanted
her to warn me specifically about my job. She said the pastor told her
that the Holy Spirit had informed him that I ought to be very prayerful in
the days ahead for there is a job loss ahead for me.
At first, I didn't take it seriously. I was like the vast majority of
Americans. I thought this can't be real. This is nonsense. But when
another pastor, from another church that my uncle belonged to, contacted
my mother to tell her the same thing. I panicked. Now, I was horrified.
I was brought up in a deeply religious household and knew first hand how
serious these prophecies are. In my church, if a man of God tells you not
to do something and you went ahead and did it anyway, you'll have only
yourself to blame for whatever comes upon you as a result.
Prior to being warned of this impending work related disaster I had
already been passively job-hunting since I wasn't exactly content with
what I had at the time. However, upon hearing of this unsettling
news from two distinct pastors whom I never met nor paid a dime to, I
swiftly went from passively to aggressively dispersing my resume all
across the internet. Fortunately, a few days after the prophecies, I was able to secure a new job offer which I
gleefully accepted without much thought.
Job Loss
When
I started at the new work place, I breathed a sigh of relief thinking the
foreshadowed omen had passed me by. I stopped praying entirely and forgot
about the words of the pastors. I thought I was going to be at this new
job forever and began spending lavishly without much regard to the
prospect of saving for a rainy day. After all, I thought, the one job I
was most likely to get canned from has been left in the past so all should
be well.
I couldn't have been anymore shocked however, when three months
later, I received a cold and heartless phone call from a human resource
personnel saying my contract at the new Job has been terminated. The HR
lady said the company I worked for, which she placed me into, had
determined my skill set wasn't
exactly what they were looking for. She went on to ask rather callously
that I bring my electronic key down to her office so she can destroy it.
This was the dreaded call I'd been warned about 6 months earlier. This was
the day of dread foreseen by the prophets of God that I never even knew
existed till they contacted me. This was the nightmare I had hoped had
passed me by and here it was staring me right in the face. I was lost for
words. This can't be happening, at least not to me. But it was. I was
without a Job.
Many years have passed now since this happened and even though at the time
I was utterly inconsolable, I can now tell you today, that because of that
experience I became closer to God. I realized, without a shadow of a
doubt that there is a higher being out there and the great thing about it
all is that, he knows about me. How lovely is that?
The point of this story here is to show to the world that Yes, there are
forces out there that are greater than humans. They are known as the
Divine World. Prophets do exist in this modern day world as they did back in
the biblical times. If I had any doubt of the existence of a supreme
being, or doubted the contents of the Bible at all, the ordeal with the job loss and the
pastors that revealed it beforehand, quenched all of it.
My reason for telling part of this story as I have done so far is to help
you, the unbelievers, understand two things. One, the Bible is real.
Secondly, the spirit world is also very real. The lingering question
is, how does the inquisitive/skeptical minds among us learn about them?
How? Well, the answer is simple. The Bible!
Knowledge of the spiritual
realm isn't taught in schools, neither can you satisfy your curiosity
about it from anyone else except for those few that have been granted the
privilege of their revelation.
Time after time, I keep come
across people who don't seem to realize that God still speaks to the human
race as he is shown doing in some of the biblical passages referenced
here and many other places in the Bible.
They believe talking or hearing the actual voice of the spirit of God is a
thing of the past. I am here to tell you, it is NOT. It
is very much well alive in today's world. Do not be fooled into
thinking like these "biblical scholars".
The good news to many Christians and others that are willing to accept God
as the Almighty, is that the role of conveyer played by the prophets back
then several thousand years ago in the biblical times, is still thankfully
being played today and I am a living testament to it.
